From film to your game plan.

Upload a game. Chalk draws both sides of the ball on every snap and fills in the breakdown in your terms. Your staff confirms it, fixes what is flagged, and takes it into the scout cards, the game plan and the call sheet.

Step 01Your staff

01You do this

Set your terms

A play in Chalk is structured, not a note: a name, a formation, a personnel grouping and a row per player saying what that player does. Twelve plays is enough to start; a full install is better.

This is what makes the rest of the product yours. Two staffs can run the same concept and call it two different things, and only one of those names is any use to you on a Sunday.

Upload the game

Send the game's clips — the per-play files you download from Hudl — or one file for the whole game, and Chalk cuts it into plays.

The film goes to your team's private space, where only your staff can see it. Cards come back while the rest of the game is still on its way, so you can start on the first play.

Step 03Chalk

03Chalk does this

Both sides of every snap

For every snap, Chalk draws a formation card: all 22 players where they lined up, offense and defense, with the receivers' routes, on a to-scale field. The formation gets your staff's name for it.

The same snap fills in its breakdown row. Where Chalk is not sure about a play, it says so, and that play comes to you first.

Formation card · offense and defense. All 22 players at the snap on a to-scale field, with a receiver's route drawn.

Confirm and fix

Each card sits beside its play's film. Drag a player, type the call — “trips right” lines the offense up the way your staff draws it — or draw a route, then press Enter for the next play.

Your fix is your team's card from then on. Chalk keeps its own draft beside it, so you can always go back.

Export and plan

Export the game's formation cards to PowerPoint and send the breakdown back to Hudl in its own format.

The same snaps feed the scout cards, the game plan reports, the call sheet and the recap, so the week's work starts from what is already on the cards.

Chalk drafts, your staff confirms. Anything Chalk isn't sure about is flagged and comes to you first.
